Although crewing a trireme is the most important part of setting up the fleet before a game, upgrading certain aspects of your vessel is not only good fun and a great hobby opportunity to tell them apart, it may also mean the difference between victory and a wreck at the bottom of the sea.
The upgrade pack contains the files for the following upgrades that must be represented on your ships: defensive deck/armoured profile (rails and defences), jib, pyrostili, Achinos, Polybolos, harassing lookout, revered icon (figureheads) and command deck with a captain and his personal guard.
Use these to upgrade your ships but also to make sure no two triremes in your fleet are the same.
